Did you know??

Cryptozoology literally, "study of hidden animals" refers to the search for animals which are considered to be legendary or otherwise nonexistent by the field of biology. This includes looking for living examples of animals that are considered extinct, such as dinosaurs; animals whose existence lacks physical support but which appear in myths, legends, or are reported, such as Bigfoot.

The animals cryptozoologists study are often referred to as cryptids, a term coined by John Wall in 1983.

Cryptozoology is not a recognized branch of zoology or a discipline of science since it relies heavily upon anecdotal evidence, stories and alleged sightings. Cryptozoology is a pseudoscience.

Ever wonder............

What is a Yeti?

The Yeti or Abominable Snowman is an ape-like cryptid said to inhabit the Himalayan region of India,Nepal and Tibet. The names Yeti and Meh-Teh are commonly used by the people indigenous to the region, and are part of their history and mythology. Stories of the Yeti first emerged as a facet of Western popular culture in the 19th century. The scientific community generally regards the Yeti as a legend, given the lack of conclusive evidence, yet it remains one of the most famous creatures of cryptozoology. The Yeti may be considered a sort of parallel to the Bigfoot of North America.

Yeti sightings have been attributed to cases of mistaken identity with known animals that live in the Himalayas, such as the Tibetan Blue Bear, the Langur monkey, the Himalayan Red Bear, and the endangered Himalayan Brown Bear, which can walk upright. Others speculate that the Yeti may be a surviving Gigantopithecus, or even a human hermit.
